# Documents

Documents are Notion-style nested pages. They carry strategy and specs — anything that isn't a ticket but needs to live with the work — and they link to the issues, projects, teams, and customers they concern.

## Nesting and organization

- `parentId` on create nests a page under another — breadcrumbs and the document tree follow.
- `projectId`, `issueId`, `teamId` attach a doc to its work context directly.
- Document spaces (`GET /workspaces/{org}/document-spaces`) group trees.

## Create

```bash
curl -s -X POST "https://<host>/workspaces/{org}/documents" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "title": "Q4 field-sales playbook",
    "content": "# Goals\n…",
    "contentFormat": "markdown",
    "parentId": "<parent-doc-uuid>",
    "projectId": "<project-uuid>"
  }'
```

## Links and comments

- `GET /workspaces/{org}/documents/{id}/links` — every edge; create more via [entity links](/entity-links).
- `…/documents/{id}/comments` — discussion on the page itself.
- `GET /workspaces/{org}/documents/{id}/share` — public share link state.

## What goes in a doc vs a ticket

Engineering effort → **issue** inside the right team/project. Strategy, specs, playbooks, meeting notes, agent session notes → **document**, always linked back to the entities it concerns. The rule of thumb: if nobody will close it as "done", it's a doc.
